This is a new experience for me.  I have had roofs blown off, trees blown, and even been in a car on the highway at night in a torrential rain just miles from a town hit by a tornado, but I have never had flood waters in my house.  I have been stranded at a restaurant during a tornado siting at the next intersection and been stranded in that restaurant by rising waters, but I have never had flood waters in my car.  Well, I can't say that anymore!  Despite my best efforts the flood waters entered my house and my car on August 19 around 2 a.m.  There was a virtual river flowing by my house that floated many things away including a stump of a tree that was still standing.  My damage was relatively minor compared to many of my neighbors.  Try as I might though , I could not do all the clean up by my self.  So, the wonderful member of Tenth & Broad Church of Christ came to my aid with donations of time, money, and materials.  My heart aches for the people who lost their homes in this flood.  There is one house near me that is literally falling down--I really don't know what they will do.  Others have lost so very much!  Please pray for all the people in Wichita Falls who are dealing with this natural disaster.  This experience reminds me of the first flood in the Bible.  People were going on with their lives and doing what they did when the waters changed everything.  This is a time to reflect.  Are we doing the things that God wants us to be doing or are we like those who were lost in the flood waters of Noah's day?
